Banksia plants are known for their spectacular flower heads.
The heads produce large volumes of nectar and attract many birds and small animals to feed on them. 
My people would soak the heads in water and make a tasty, sweet drink. The dry cones would be used as strainers and carried around to put out fires. The dry cones were also used as fine paint brushes. It is so amazing how different things from nature can be used in so many different ways. We do not need to destroy our planet with plastics when nature can provide alternatives.
