I am a proud Iman tribe women.
I am told by my elders of the very dark times my people went through in the early days when white man came to this land.
“Please” they said, “could you tell this story and pass on history as it really was.”
At Chain Lagoon, not far from Taroom in Queensland, my people were taken at gun point and chained to the trees around Chain Lagoon. Here they stayed until they died. It must have been a terrible death. With sweltering heat and watching the other family members die before them. After they passed, their bodies were thrown into the lagoon.
I dearly hope this story is never forgotten and will never be repeated.
