MY PEOPLE LIVED IN REDCLIFFE ON THE ARRIVAL OF THE FIRST
SETTLERS. THEY ENJOYED MAGICAL SUNSETS, AMAZING WILDLIFE
AND AN ABUNDANCE OF SEAFOOD.
The first colony in Queensland was settled in Redcliffe. After time
the settlers decided to transfer to a deeper harbour across the way.
This is now called Brisbane.
I am so lucky to live here. I appreciate everything this paradise has
to offer. I am fortunate to live near Humpybong Lagoon. Every day I
experience the many different varieties of bird life which gather
outside me door. I watch the fish and eels swimming and eating.
Most of all I get to experience my tribal totem (The Turtle)
I am a proud Iman tribe woman and the turtle is incredibly special
and sacred to me.
I also feel very connected to Pelicans. They almost feel prehistoric. I
feel this may be part of an incredibly old spiritual connection.
The incredibly special thing I have experienced while living here,
are the magical rainbows. People say they are good luck, but they
allow me to remember the happy times that came before me. They
make me feel happiness. Redcliffe is truly a magical place.
