“Sun Energy” is all about the closeness of Susan’s ancestors to nature. This powerful painting again depicts not only the power and resilience of the sun but also the enormous resilience of her ancestors in the face of great adversity. From one central group of surviving ancestors have come thousands of individuals. As the painting radiates out from the centre, it becomes stronger and stronger until, like the sun it can never be extinguished. Many of Susan’s ancestors went unrecognised, seen by many as unimportant but in this painting each individual holds their place proudly and strongly individual whilst still strongly bonded to the group.
