This painting depicts the critical loss of water into the earth and how Susan feels her ancestors must have felt with no control over their lives or even that of their children, falling helplessly and hopelessly into a deep, never-ending vortex.
Susan was inspired for this painting by her Great Grandmother, Maggie Dunn, who, through her amazing courage and resilience after having 6 of her 9 surviving children stolen from her as was the Law then, somehow protected and nurtured them to have thousands of descendants including herself and her twin sister, Wendy.
